Back in December when I was still humming Christmas tunes and buying my seventeen millionth bauble in a festive frenzy, I was invited to try the new menu at Chophaus. What is this ‘Chophaus’ I hear you ask, well, if you’re a Leeds local then you’ve probably heard about this modern steakhouse and bar already, which is located beautifully on the edge of Roundhay Park in Oakwood, North Leeds.
Obviously, you’ll know that I’ve been on a plant based diet for over 11 weeks now, so in December I was still very much meat-free and Chophaus delivered some delicious options for me to choose from- so I really didn’t miss out.
The carrot and lemongrass soup was absolutely delicious, it was topped with carrot crisps and coriander pesto, which added a beautiful texture. The crisp Sauvignon was a lush contrast from the sweetness of the soup and was a perfect accompaniment to the starters.
For my main course I chose a vegetable cassoulet with a cepo puree mouse and spiced onion-beignet. The soft vegetables contrasted beautifully with crispy onions, creating a moreish and satisfying vegetarian dish.
Although I am veggie, I still wanted to show you guys the steaks that Chophause are fast becoming famous for, these bad boys looked like they had been cut from a mammoth and judging by everyone’s expressions, they were obviously hitting the button when it came to the taste as well!
After enjoying the dinner, I couldn’t resist trying the dessert; and the black forest cheesecake didn’t disappoint, it was creamy, decadent sharp and moreish, a winning combination to finish off a gorgeous meal.
Although Chophause is a steak house, I’d happily return to the enjoy the gorgeous atmosphere, lovely service and the veggie options they have on offer, there’s no doubt Chophaus is here to stay, so check these guys out ASAP and find out why!
